According to many sources, HCC is a semi-synthetic psychoactive cannabinoid that has hydrogenated derivatives of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Although the natural occurrence of the psychoactive substance in the hemp plant has been discussed since the 1940s, there has never been any real use for the natural form. On the one hand, this was due to the fact that it was far too complex to create a highly potent HHC flower quickly and efficiently. The industry has put little further effort into developing new methods for breeding a highly potent HHC hemp plant. However, it is very likely that due to an ever-evolving trend, more effort will be invested in an industrialized solution.

What is HHC actually?
Here is an in-depth article on the origin of HHC
HHC or hexahydrocannabinol is currently the newest, semi-synthetic cannabinoid on the cannabis market and only arrived in Europe in 2021. The cannabinoid HHC is originally not synthetic, only in the case of high-dose preparations is there at least a synthetic manufacturing process that is required in order to achieve high-dose amounts of the active ingredient. Even if the general public still has relatively little idea about it, it is already sold in many German and Austrian shops. In North America in particular, HHC cartridges and flowers have long been touted as a legal alternative to THC in countless specialist shops.
Since legalization has still not taken place in some states of the USA, people have started to look for other possibilities that cause a state of intoxication or CBD-like effects. Other different cannabinoid variations such as CBG, Delta-A-THC and THC-Delta10 are also more familiar in the USA than in this country.
The psychoactive substance HHC is currently becoming more and more well-known here as well. It is said to have similar, if not identical, effects to the common delta-9-THC . In contrast to conventional THC , however, the legal situation with HHC is far more unclear . This cannabinoid in particular is only found in very small amounts in the cannabis plant. So how can it be that HHC products are now being sold in such masses everywhere? Something more about that

Some proponents of the CBD industry are therefore hoping for a new turning point in the hemp industry. Since HHC is not technically THC, products with low THC content are legal in most EU countries, theoretically HHC as a pure substance is (as of July 13, 2022) according to the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, in Austria not classified as a narcotic. As far as we know, there is still no explicit classification of any category for HHC in Germany.
We can only hope that the federal government is working on a good decision and, in the event of an HHC ban, making clear statements under which conditions this ban applies and for what reason.
